easter dinner

Thank the lord for no cooking on Easter!! Gawa (my mom) was so kind and made a lovely Easter dinner this year for all of us. We had ham, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, baked beans, deviled eggs and she even made the non-meat eater fettucine. To top off our meal we had strawberry shortcake. Brandon didn't have any since he doesn't like strawberries. Huh?!? Oh well, more for us. Also played a game of Yahtzee. Hayley smoked us all by getting an unheard of 3 Yahtzees!! Thanks for dinner Mom!!

america's next top model for sure

We are celebrating Hayley's birthday next weekend since they are coming back for their regular weekend. Think she wants to go to the zoo. By the time all is said and done, she will have had 3 birthday celebrations!! Lucky girl.

go yucaipa!!

While I was in Vegas celebrating Nurses Gone Wild last weekend (4/5), the hubs was at Hayley's cheer competition. Several area cheer groups from San Bernardino County, Orange County & LA County were there. You can imagine just how loud they were from the pictures. Yucaipa won the "loudest parents" award! lol There is some disagreement between the kids as to what awards Yucaipa actually got. Hayley says they tied with Santa Ana, Brandon say Santa Ana won. Either way, the kids looked cute and cheered their hearts out according to their dad and Kaelyn.

yucaipa's mascot-the kids voted on the name and picked teddy the tiger

the girls running out with their cheer coach....she's way too perky and peppy for me

the little cheerleader....believe it or not she's not the smallest one on the team

coloring eggs

We spent our Saturday coloring eggs for Easter after a trip to Target to get Easter stuff for the kids. Note to self-do not wait until the night before Easter to buy Easter presents!!! There were slim pickins at Target. There was no bagged candy, no baskets, a handful of chocolate bunnies and no Cadbury eggs!!! We had to make a stop at CVS to get baskets, grass and Cadbury eggs. Not sure why or how this tradition of coloring eggs started but we participated anyways. At some point I'll have to Google it. It's always fun watching the kids come up with crazy designs for their eggs.

brandon's dstoryr egg (when in doubt, pinky out)

he's hard at work too

the end result...kids weren't very creative this year

After the kids went to bed we listened in on a converstation the kids had about the Easter bunny. Brandon knows the truth about the bunny and I'm pretty sure Kaelyn does too but she hasn't let on that she knows. Hayley saw the baskets in our room right before they went to bed so she might know the deal too. Brandon said something about the Easter bunny being "viscious" (!!) and that the bunny eats the left over candy that the parents have. So funny to hear the kids theories. The tricky part was putting out the baskets in the living room without making too much noise and waking the kids. The floor makes soooo much noise since it's a raised foundation. Makes trying to be sneaky very hard but seemed to work.

happy easter!!

The Easter bunny came!!!! He (or she) left lots of goodies for the kids. Me and the hubs got Cadbury eggs. Mmmmmmmmmmm! I wait all year long to get my hands on one of those eggs. Thanks Easter bunny!! We hid the eggs, the bunny didn't know the eggs were in the fridge. Oops!!

kaelyn's basket....note the teeny bopper magazine filled with photos of Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron, etc.

hayley's basket....note the same type of magazine minus the gum...no gum allowed with braces

brandon's basket...note how the large egg has already been torn into

drew's basket is untouched since he is sleeping

yummy!

We are hanging out watching baseball and the kids are playing outside. Tonight it's dinner at Gawa's. The kids go home to their mom's after being here a week for spring break. It's been an interesting week. Think too much togetherness makes the kids get bossy with each other and fight. Nothing like waking up to kids fighting in the morning!!
